COMMITTEE AND LONG-TERM VOLUNTEERS

Some volunteers want more than a single shift—they want a seat at the table.

Our committees help shape the future of The Friends by planning programs, overseeing finances, building community partnerships, and guiding our organization. If you're looking to make a lasting impact, we'd love to talk with you.

WHAT Committee VOLUNTEERS DO

Committee members are the driving force behind The Friends. They meet monthly, take on meaningful projects between meetings, and help shape the organization's future. Many of our board members began their journey by serving on a committee.

Our Six Committees:

  • Advocacy: Promotes awareness and support for the Library by engaging local decision-makers.
  • Community Engagement: Connects our community through events, socials, and librarian appreciation efforts.
  • Communications: Runs marketing including digital communications, social media, and event promotion.
  • Development: Builds donor relationships, plans fundraising events, and strengthens community giving programs.
  • Finance: Oversees financials by managing budgets, monitoring expenditures, and investment strategies..
  • Governance: Stewards board development, evaluates policies and bylaws, and supports effective, transparent decision-making.

Our Process

This pathway starts with a conversation, not an application. After you express interest, our Volunteer Coordinator will reach out to learn about your background, your interests, and where you might fit best. From there, we'll connect you with the relevant committee chair, who will take you through their own onboarding.

Who is this for?

  • Professionals who want to apply their expertise to a cause they care about
  • Long-time Friends supporters ready for deeper involvement
  • Community members who want to help shape the library's future
  • Volunteers considering an eventual leadership or board role
